squeak
got a bad squeak, changed belt twice, new tensioner, new alternator, the pulley on the power steering pump goes in and out about 3/8 in with belt off. did the stick to ear on all things to belt, cant find squeak. any ideas? thanks Capt. Hugh

Have the same problem with my 302 on my 88. Changed belt twice,tensioner pulley, new alternator, new power steering pulley.
Try putting soap on the belt with the engine running until you get the issue fixed. Stay away from the fan while you do this

Check a/c pulley, had same problem , turned out to be outer bearing .

Take the belt off and see how the air pump(smog pump) spins,my 91 squeaks sometimes.

thanks D Hill the soap worked, with the belt off cant turn the smog pump by hand, should it turn by hand? thanks guys

Sounds like the smog pump has seized up if I'm not mistaken.

Yes all of your pulleys should spin freely by hand with the belt off.
