Exclamation Pulley Noise

I have a 1990 F-150, 300, 4.9L. I am hearing a squealing nosie that is either coming from power steering pump pulley or the belt tensioner. How can I tell if this is a loose belt, power steering pump pulley going bad, or belt tensioner needing replaced? Any help is appreciated

Doubtful if it is a bad pulley. Watch the pulley while the engine is running and unless you see a wobble (bent pulley) the pulley is more than likely ok. Find the longest distance on the belt between pulleys. At the center check deflection by pushing on belt. If the deflection is less than 1/2 inch belt is too tight. If deflection is more than 3/4 inch belt is too loose and either one can cause belt to squeal. You have to take the belt loose to check the tensioner. It should spin smooth with no drag or bind release bind release. It's just like checking any bearing. If it feels like it has excessive play best to replace it. Hope that helps. Carl

If the tensioner checks out OK, try removing the belt and roughing up the pulley grooves with emery cloth/scotchbrite; they may be glazed. The belt could be glazed also, from slipping.
