Hole in intake plenum

Hole in intake plenum
I guess its called the plenum, but there is a metal plate on the bottom of a stock 302 intake manifold. Mine has a small slit in it. I can't tell if it is supposed to be there or not. Its also dented a little.
Anyone know if its supposed to have a hole in it. If not, can you just replace that part? Looks like its riveted in or something.

It's supposed to be there. It's a heat shield to keep the oil from burning unto the hot exhaust crossover. If you use a gasket scraper or small chisel under the rivets you can tap/unscrew them. PITA but a lot of crap can be under the shield. Best to drill and tap rivet holes for bolts and locktite or safety wire the new bolts in after clean up.
