Hey guys I need sum input! I have had my front and rear brakes
done rotors turned and all new pads. Two weeks later I take it back because the front-end start to shake so they put on new pads and turn them again. they worked fine for two weeks and started again so I got mad and took it somewhere else and they changed the pads and turned the rotors again. That was two weeks ago and they are shakeing again! the first pads where
NAPA OEM and the third set where BENDIX OEM can anybody please tell me what could be the problem. This is getting costly!
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
duallyman, I doubt any brand of pads will fix your problem. More likely the rotors are too thin and are warping. If they've been turned that many times they're likely below minimum thickness. There are other causes of shaking but from your description it sounds like warped rotors. They can check for this easy enough with a dial indicator. You also could have a caliper hanging up which could warp a rotor even it is thick enough. Good luck!
I have found that the stock ford rotors don't tolerate the turning process and once warped appear to have a greater tendency to warp in the future and yes I do follow and validate proper torque values on the lugs.
My solution, is to replace the rotors (from anybody but Ford) when I replace the pads. For me the cost of replacement is only slightly more than the cost of machining and I get a much more durable result. I have not had to replace the replacements, nor have I had to have them machined. I guess we are just pretty easy on our brakes in this camp.
