water temp guage

I just bought a water temp guage for my 83 f250 with a 351w. I'm having trouble finding the spot where you plug it into the head or block, i'm not sure which. my friends old chevy has it right on the left head. could somebody tell me where it could be. thanks.

you can put it either on the intake in place of the existing coolant temp sensor, or, another place is in the heater hose, or the elbow for the heater hose coming out of the engine, there should be a bung there that you can unscrew to thread in the sensor

I recommend putting it directly into the intake. You should find the tempature sensor for the factory gauge on top of the intake just in front of the number 5 cylinder. Probably just behind the AC compressor on your motor. I believe this will give you the most accurate reading.
