I was installing the kick down cable kit made by Lokar today and the kickdown lever that should be indexed at approximately 5 o'clock position is actually closer to the 3 o'clock position. I contacted Lokar about it but they said they have never run into this problem before. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and if so what did you do to correct it ?
In this picture the trans cable bracket isn't tightened up yet but if tension were to be put on the cable it wouldn't rotate the lever at all.
I'm going to see if I can make another lever tomorrow from the Ford piece I removed, I don't have much choice in the matter. I guess nothing is supposed to go smooth with these projects...

figure it out John.... I'm gonnna have the same deal... I was JUST thinking about that today...funny what comes into your head on a long drive... guess great minds think alike, eh ?? did you fab up all the brackets for the accelerator and kickdown cables
I bought all LOKAR stuff but looking at their bracket for the carburetor I don't think it will work on this 2barrel so will have to adapt the original brackets, just in the process of installing the trans shifter now and want to get this kick down done at the same time seeing as I'm laying on my back anyways..
I used the Lokar kit myself on a c6 transmission. Seems like my is at the 5 o clock position. Don't ask how I got it there done slept a few time since.
This is the stock piece that was on the transmission and what I was going to use as my solution to the fix, when flipped the opposite way it was originally installed it lined up perfect with the cable sleeve. I intended to drill a hole 1/8" diameter for the inner cable but this is the hardest material I've come across and a drill bit will hardly scratch the surface.
So I used it as a pattern and cut out another from 1/8" plate drilled my 1/8" hole
Then bent the tab. Will get another pic of it installed this afternoon.
So when I bought my 51 pick up it had a 429 connected to a C6. No kick down cable at all. took me a while to figure out what that extra lever was since I'm just getting into this stuff. seemed to shift at the right times without it though.
