So yes! I'm still on the whole C-6 transmission subject and know I have run myself into a question/problem that I did myself kindof. When I got my 52 F-1 with the 302 2bbl the person I got this truck from was a bit of a hack. Anyways with this being my first real project I pulled off what I think was the kick-down cable on the transmission because the end up by the carb was cut off and doing nothing. Now looking at the transmission I cannot figure out where it is supposed to be connected on either the trans or the motor side. I know this maybe a little vauge but, if there is any tips or pics I can get to help fix this issue I would appreciate it! Seems like everyday I go and look at this truck I cannot figure out what the guy was thinking before I got ahold of it. I'm not the top mechanic but, common sense can go along way! Sorry for the rambling!
Thanks again all!
Oh yeah! For some of us in the mid-west/colder climates I think that spring might actually trying to make its way back! Hooray!
My recommendation - buy a lokar kickdown cable kit. It comes with full instructions and will look much nicer in the engine bay! I had the same issue and have never regretted going with a new kit, it was actually a pleasure to install.
at least on my big block C6, the kickdown rod comes out in the middle of the shift lever arm. the rod is threaded and has a flat spot where the kickdown arm attaches.
Hey there sledguy, how's about getting a gallery going? Uh, you too wolverine, there's a lot of voyeurs here!
A gallery in general or for the kickdown cable? I guess now that the big box company I work for is cutting back on hours I might have time! I will have to try and see what I need to do for the gallery. Forums and I sometimes dont see eye-to-eye!
That's a cool truck in your avatar, I, for one, would like to see more
That is an older pic of the truck but, thanks for the compliment! It is now flat black and I will be putting up some pic here soon when I actually get it out and clean it! I'm going though withdrawl really bad so that may be sooner than later!
