Power response

I just recently bought a 2003 6.0 262,000 miles truck runs good. I'm just not sure how the response should be rolling around 30 mph then getting on it. When I stomped the gas it felt like the engine was responding but going from a complete stop it goes thru the gears just fine... any suggestions on what this could be? Only thing I could come up with was there was no boost build up.
Thanks

So it pulls ok if you're already rolling but is sluggish from a dead start? (Having a little trouble understand the issue from the info you posted)
