Well Folks I have a problem here in Wisconsin. As you All Know I have a couple of stroked 400's one sitting in the shop (426) and the other (435) in my Pulling Truck I call ShaZam. I have all the details to both motors on here somewhere.
Well next year I'm building Two New motors , And I don't know what to do with the one's I have.
I have over $11,000 tied up in the 426.
And only $9,500 into the 435.
Anyone have any Ideas ?????
If you hav use for them sell'em. Better to see them used than rust away. If this 67' im about to get has a 6 in it i know where a 400 is sitting but not sure if he will sell it to me.
Wish i had a stroked 400 to build...i have to much free time..
Another puller would be a good option, eBay is another, don't mess with a high reserve and a lowball start price, that is always irritating to buyers. Put in a reasonable start price and use that as your reserve or set the reserve at what you want out of them. Put them on for the max listing period and list a local sales option. I am not sure that is legal under the ebay rules but a lot of people do it. Do NOT list both engines at the same time.
No I'm running in the same classes it's just in one club I'm running up against 528's and 530's, And in the other club there's a 509 Cube limit ..
I've been holding my own with my 435 in the club with the 509 limit but I keep getting spanked by the 528's and 530's in the other club. So I figure if I build a SVO 509 as my main motor I'll only be giving up 21 Cubic inch, Verse 95 Cubes I'm missing now ... And then I have a 502 Standard 460 block sitting on the engine stand already that I'll put together as a back up motor..
As Torque1st has said, you could put them on Ebay one at a time with pretty much the price you want set, that might bring in more money in the long run.
You could also just come up with a price you pretty much want for them and let them go in the Classifieds on FTE here.
Its all just a matter of what you want to do, im sure there are a lot of guys in either place that will buy the motors in a heartbeat!
NO Billp I build the 400's for the open stock classes I was running . When I went to High port plate heads that's what made me Super Stock...Had I known I could have build a Super Stock Motor for half what I got tied up in my 400.. I would have , ..... but then nobody HERE would have know just what a 400 was capable of ...................And they still would be swapping in 460's..........................
For the most part I feel I have done a good thing here ...
The 400 is a motor to be taking serious with the right parts ........
