Like I said in the listing ... This would not be a good Street Motor. It has 14 to 1 comp. and needs at least 116 octane Racing fuel.I use 120 octane myself. And the block is filled so it does get warm faster then normal. But with a good Aluminum Radiator and a kick butt Fan it will help to keep it cool.
shaz by what you have built it sounds like you know alot about these motors. I have a 78 400 and I want it to kick out around 400 to 500hp. Will edelbrock performer intake, cam, carb be good or do you know of some other means. What cfm carb should I run on this engine. It is for a 4x4 that may see some road use, but my plan is off-road. I don't really want to stroke or bore till the engine needs a rebuild which won't be for a long time (I hope).
The edelbrock performer intake, cam, carb, Are a good upgrade but it still won't make the horsepower your looking for .
To make that much power, your looking at having to put flat top pistons in and try to get 9 to 1 comp.and make the heads you have breath the best they can .
85% of all horsepower made in most engines will depend on the heads sitting on top.. IF it can't get it in or push it out , you won't make much power .
What type of horsepower would I be making with the edelbrock parts and what size carb should I put on it the recomend 600cfm and 650cfm. Would 750 be to much.
