I bought a 2015 Ford F-250. It has a power sliding rear window installed, however it does not have a switch or wiring harness. Everything else is there, window, cables and motor with pigtail just no where to plug it in. To me this seems like a Ford warranty issue and the service techs agree but ford says the truck did not have the window as an option according to the VIN. Another ford rep stated that factory mis installs are common and there is probably another truck running around with the switch and wiring harness but again to make the window operational is not a warranty issue. Any thoughts or ideas
I would have guessed there is a wiring pigtail hiding somewhere. Not sure where though. I just can't see Ford not having such a small plug on all the harnesses.
Maybe someone didn't run it up to the glass. Not sure what to do other than pull the rear seats and carpet.
I don't see Ford fixing it unless you can show a window sticker or order that showed other wise.

Looked and unable to find one. There should also be a switch to control the window in the overhead console between the map lights but it is lot there either
Sounds like if you press Ford, the proper fix [per what they said] would be to remove the sliding window and slap in a regular one.
I have considered this and the possibility that they may go the more cost effective way of installing the harness and switch. As a first time Ford buyer this truck is making it more difficult to consider another Ford purchase in the future. There have been other issues with the truck also
Sorry you're having issues. Sounds like a weird deal to me - first thing I thought was the back window may have been replaced with the wrong window. When you're a first time buyer it doesn't give you a lot of confidence, but I am quite confident your experience is not the norm. Seems like there should be a plausible explanation why things aren't lining up.
I did fail to mention that I was told at the dealership I could purchase the switch and harness and install it my self, I just think that after spending 40k+ dollars this should not be an issue.
Pretty hokey if the dealer or Ford doesn't step up to make this right. I'd leave it in their hands, either replace with a non slider or get it operational.
My thought is that your dealer needs to step up and take ownership of this. They need to complete the install of the switch and wiring as you spent a lot of $$ for your rig.
Question #1: Did you PAY (either in an equipment or convenience package or by itself) for a sliding rear window in that truck?
If yes, Then it should be equipped with it in an operational status. Raise hell to the dealer.
If no, why are you complaining?? You got a $420 option for the cost of a partial harness and switch. Go get the appropriate harness and switch and you are ahead of the game. If it really bugs you that much I'm sure someone within 10 miles of you would be ecstatic to swap.
The ONLY caveat I see is if you special ordered that truck with exactly what you wanted. If you bought it off the lot, and had obviously inspected it, then it stands to reason a dealer wouldn't be inclined to spring for the change after the sale.

After reading some of the responses I can only deduce that when I purchased the vehicle if it had headlights in place but no switch for them or wiring in place for them, it should be ok? I should just put in a switch and wire them up and it should be all good? I am going to guess that as a first time Ford buyer I should expect this?

Like a previous poster said, if you paid for the option it should be fixed. If you didn't, the only responsibility to the dealer should be to put the proper rear window in. So which one was it?
If I were to demand that Ford 'fix' the problem, then the fix would be to make the vehicle as ordered/purchased, so the headlights would be removed.
You got part of an option for free, someone on the assembly line made a mistake. To me, it seems ridiculous to demand Ford GIVE you the option for free. The 'fix' I would expect Ford to deliver is to give you the options you purchased, so it would entail replacing the window with a plain one.
But personally, I would accept that Ford gave me something for free, and research and pay for part of the option to enable it to work myself. Or swap the window myself and sell it.
This, of course, is entirely independent of whatever other issues you may have with the truck.
Would you demand Ford install this option (if your truck had a plain rear window installed) in compensation for the other issues?
