I have a '95 f250 7.3 with a zf5 trans and have done some basic mods; AFE stage2 intake, MBRP turbo back exhaust, Valair clutch, EGT and boost gauges. The truck is a daily driver with about 95,000 original miles, I hardly ever tow but do load the truck down with gear to go camping several times a year. The truck gets wheeled off road pretty often for hunting and fishing. I have a 4 inch lift running 315/75/16's with 4:10 gears. I would like to get more power out of the truck, nothing crazy; maybe upgrading injectors to stage one since it needs to be a daily driver. What is the next logical step? I know I can chip the truck at this point, but should I do any other mods first to support the stage ones in the future? I have considered an IC, e-fuel( this is a conflicting point since I cannot find definitive info regarding this. Some say the stock fuel system is marginal for even stage ones.), Adrenaline HPOP, or turbo upgrade to D66? Just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row as it gets expensive at this point. Thanks for your help.
If it were me I would do efuel, hpop,ic then stix/chip with proper custom tuning for the injectors.
Some run stock fuel with stage ones but I personally would not and did not.
If that's as far as you plan then the stock turbo can live if you don't disregard your gauges.
My 97 I had 150cc mini-swamps installed with mild tuning. Even with the chip pulled, it ran strong. It was a little smokey in the low RPM's if heavy on the throttle, but not bad. Cleared up at 2000rpm's no matter what tune I was running. Never threw an ICP code either. Stock turbo, 6637, and 3" to 4" exhaust. I didn't have gauges either. Motor was still running strong at 393,000 miles when I got rid of it.
