Programmer

I have been looking in to what programmer I want to get for my truck. I have been looking at the SCT Livewire and the Diablo Trinity T1000 among others. Only problem is the online reviews are not helpful at all. I have a 2012 f150 eco boost. Just looking to see what everyone is running. I looked at the bully dog and hypertec also. What's the best bang for the buck?

I don't know about the Diablo but SCT will work with custom tunes.

The Livewire is nice if you want a smaller unit with the touchscreen. The X4 does the same thing as the LW, but it's not as small.
I have the Livewire TS+ and it's a nice unit. I'm currently running the canned 87 tune on my '13 EB and it's mild yet noticeable, especially when you put your foot in it.

The bit I know in comparing SCT to Diablosport is that SCT can monitor and adjust more parameters than the DS. Most custom tuning operations prefer the SCT for Ford applications. I'd recommend that you pick one up from a tuning operation as you'll likely get the option for one "custom tune" with your purchase. Email tunes run about $110-140 depending on the company, so it's a nice savings right off the bat.

Here are some options in no particular order:
Leading Edge Tuning LET the shop
Unleashed Tuning- Horsepower is easy, traction is the real problem!

Thanks for the info. Are the custom tunes worth it if I'm only running with an intake, proper spark plug gaps, and upgraded inter cooler tubes? I hadn't really planned going much further than that... Maybe upgraded blow off valves. Anyone running with the custom tunes?

honestly, ANY additions to your intake track or your exhaust would justify the tunes. I'm 100% bone stock in that regard and the tunes are worth it. The dyno numbers for an EB on 87 octane is about 30hp and 60ft/lbs, and that's with no bolt ons. The canned tunes are a little less potent.
For about $400 for a X4, or $600 for a Livewire I would say it's the best value out there.

That is helpful. My brother has the Livewire with mbrp exhaust and s&b intake and its a pretty good set up. He runs the premium fuel and can tune. It's a sweet set up, just didn't know if there was anything better than the SCT. Ultimately I just want to beat what he has although I really don't want to change to the bumble bee exhaust... I miss my v8 for that, but I may have too.
