E track Cargo System
Just wondering if anyone uses the E track Cargo system in their van. Id like to haul two motorcycles and im trying to figure out the best layout for the E track.
I was thinking of running one strip the width of the van at the back of the and another in the middle. That way i could use a motorcycle wheel chock that snaps into the e track. then tie off front and back..
Heres a pic i found on the net.
I have also seen people run the E track the length of the van.. Im just not sure what would be best....
Do i need a backing plate under the floor to secure the e track?
Any help or photos would be great!
thanks.
Mike
Ratchet straps hooked to D-rings are easier to use and, for motorcycles, more secure than e-tracks, which are generally used to secure cargo that is mainly in box, container, and pallet form.
E-tracks aren't the best choice for loads where the strap will be under tension at a lateral angle from the track, which will put an uneven load on the strap and the clip. With a heavy motorcycle pulling on the clip under panic braking or even worse, I'd rather it be secured with heavy duty welded and bolted D-ring anchors.
Just my thoughts and I'm sure some will disagree.
Good luck whichever way you choose to go.
