Hard To Remove Locking Gas Cap
My locking gas cap got very stiff and difficult to remove. I replaced it with another Stant which inherited the problem. I just put the original (never a problem) back in service but haven't driven yet so I don't know the outcome.
The truck is an '11 with a 6.2L engine. Any ideas? My attempts at searching were fruitless.
Thanks,,,

I once installed a locking gas cap in my 96 Jeep. Then one day I needed to drop the tank, which was full, of course. I figured I'd simply siphon gas into several gas cans using my Oklahoma credit card. Try as I might, I couldn't get anything out. There was something blocking the hose. I don't know if it was a back flow prevention device, or intentionally in there to stop theft. In any event, I went back to a regular cap which was much more convenient to use.
I also learned that fuel thieves don't siphon gas anyway. They simply punch a hole in your tank and place a can under it.

I always got it open but twisting the cap was difficult. The lock rotated in the cap correctly. I wondered if there was excess vacuum but when opening the cap there never was a noise to indicate that.
If it continues to work OK with the original cap I'll find a way to re-connect the lanyard and I'll shut up! I'd just like to learn something from the experience.
