Wow, no idea how I missed this thread yesterday but I am so sorry to see this. All that matters is the family and you (wife and pup first though). There will always be more Xs out there and think of the GOOD things that will come of this
The first good thing is me actually. After seeing what has happened to you and what happened to hav24wheel I'm going to up my insurance in case something happens to mine. I have ALWAYS kept full coverage on Wendys vehicles but never on mine. I'm such a great driver it's pointless to waste the money on extra insurance I'll never use right? Well you are proof that no matter how well you drive or how well you plan ahead sometimes things just happen. From now on I'll personally pay more attention when there's ice on the road (already am more than before after this last winter) and remember what can happen when things go awrie.
Let me add to my voice to those that say glad you are all okay...sorry to see an Ex meet it's end.
As I have written before, a former neighbor rolled his previous Ex with a travel trailer attached. Both he and his wife walked away. When I asked what his next step was...he said..."find another Excursion".
Glad you are here to tell us about it. I am impressed that none of your windows on the side blew out. I would do a buyback after they total it. Get what you want off of it. Part out the rest and get scrap price for the shell. If you have the time and a place to do it that is.
Thank God and the Ex that the three of you are OK.
You have put a lot of work and effort and $$$$ into your excursion, it is truly sad to see it end up this way.
When you remove the rear axle parts don’t waist your time with the RR’s trying to get the welded spring tabs off, when you are ready please let me know and I will send you a new set of tabs. With the next Excursion try to find a different welder.

Thanks Arne--I thought about those tabs for a brief moment.
Thankfully, I still have my regular Limited tires I'll put back on. I have the factory radio. The other stuff is add ons so shouldn't be calculated in the cost. When I bought the rims, there was a fifth rim-brand new--so I have that covered, I hope. I'm looking for another X that won't have much to do for the time being. Found this on eBay which is probably high but seems like most everything has been done and has a bulletproof diesel. It has airbags but said he had not added anything to the rear axle...but I will have all that I would need. Stereo is upgraded almost exactly to mine. I'm not sure about the wheels since those would have spacers. Might be a change back to SVT if I bought it. So far, this is the most promising one I've come across. Opinions? Never mind--freaking RWD. My brain missed that yesterday
Arne just told me about this. I'm glad to read nobody was injured. The roof holding up so well speaks volumes for the integrity of the X. The photos make me believe all the glass remained intact ... even the rear which has shattered so easily on other X's. Also glad to see Arne offering some help. "Hoowasat"
