I keep waffling between the caps and a full chrome cover. I kind of like the idea of full chrome, but I'm concerned about the fit around the lights.
I bought both the caps and the full covers when I bought mine. Dry fit them for a couple days and went with the caps. The full covers made the mirrors look like a big rig or something. Just over the top for me.
I rather suspected they might be a bit much.
I think our trucks are pretty much the same basic color, and chrome does look good against blue. I seem to be zeroing in on the PTM. I might have to play with that in Paint Shop Pro.

Yep. The dark blue metallic. I really like your 2 tone. I have been on the fence considering oem flares painted in that graphite color for about a year now. I just don't know how it would look not being a true 2 tone.
I like the look of the chrome mirror caps that come with the chrome package/higher trim level superdutys and would like to mimic the look with some aftermarket mirror caps for my XLT. It looks like I can get a pair on eBay for $20, or from a half dozen online stores for up to $60. They all look the same to me.
Any one have a set of aftermarket mirror caps, chrome or paint to match that you're happy with? Where did you get them? Thanks!
I have been unable to find any blue trucks with PTM caps. Seems like they are either chrome or black. Did you end up going with chrome?

Here is a dark blue metallic truck with painted caps. Looks like they put those on the sport models or whatever they call them with all the painted trim, grille, bumper, etc.
Wow, what a tough decision!
When I was exiting a parking garage the barrier bar crashed down on my hood, so the company is paying to repair it. The truck is going into the body shop next week, and I'm figuring I can get the caps painted for a lot less while they are doing the hood.
I'm just immobilized by indecision.
My door handles are PTM, so I thought PTM mirror caps would go good with them. But I am not sure. I guess there's a reason most trucks have chrome caps...
I'm a huge fan of paint to match/body color trim as well; but for my truck nothing but the body itself is body color, and the front is a wall of chrome. I think that the chrome caps will hopefully spread the chrome out on truck a little...
Well the decision was made for me. Turns out the caps that 1AAuto sell do not fit on the factory textured mirrors. They are the clip in kind to replace the factory chrome caps. I don't know how I missed that bit of information originally, but Tony set me straight.
Guess I'm going to order a set of those Amazon chrome ones too.
$25 Amazon.com caps. Not as clean looking as OEM because they are "applied" but for what they are, not sure they could look any better. The chrome and fit are both great, especially for the price. I think it adds a nice touch!
I bought the 2008 and up 1AA mirrors from you, PART #: 1AMRP00611 to fit my 1999 F250 SD.
Do you have instructions for installing the caps?
The Youtube video was too vague, to follow.
Look for a YouTube video titled: 2008 Mirror conversion full install by Anthony Youngblood.
Towards the end he addresses the tabs or clips that lock the caps in place.
The video was too vague to see what he was talking about.
I couldn't tell if he meant to latch to hold, or to release them.
Mine have been on for almost a year but one fell off and I reinstalled it.
