My first guess would be worn tie rod ends or drag link. If somebody knows what they are doing it wouldn't take them long to check it out. I would bet it's something worn causing sway. The alignment would have to be way off for it to be all over the road.

I was told maybe tie rods but the drag link is the arm in between?

The drag link is the piece that hooks onto the pitman arm. The pitman arm is the solid piece that bolts onto the steering gear box. Basically it drives(controls) the arm in between the two tie rod ends.

also check the steering column. between the firewall and steering box is a slip joint. there is a plastic bushing in there held in place by a spring steel clip. if the clip breaks the bushing falls out, and will give you about 1/4 turn play in the steering wheel.

I've been this route already, All the parts are replaced in my front end and it still wanders. If you have major miles on the truck, mine has 200K the steering box is probably what the problem is.
