help with alt mod
OK. I've done all the wire upgrades for the alternator but 1. Having
a little trouble with the positive to battery mod. I see that there is some kind of extension mount to allow the positive cable to be up higher away from the back of the alternator stud (see pic) and away from CAC. Can anyone direct me to this part that is need to move the location of the stud mount on back of alt to the top positive?
Thank you

You will have to get the extension that is clocked right for the alternator. Separate the housing on the alternator and install the extension from the inside of the housing.

I was hoping I didn't have to do that. Well, I'll take my old one apart and check it out.
Thx.

I have one that is just a bolt up from the outside.
Might be worth checking at some of the smaller auto parts stores.
You could also look and see if you have a rebuilder that is local and ask there.

Well, I found this 3G-6G ford alternator post extension by Romeo Electrical. They are also posted on ebay.
Go down the middle of the page and you'll see the part# 1452038
http://store.alternatorparts.com/f1-452-038.aspx
So, this would allow us to safely mount the positive cable to passenger battery from alt. Looks like they're made here in the US also.
I'm going to order one and give an update later.

I have one of those in my shop. I tried the same thing but decided I didn't want to split my alternator to install it.

You shouldn't have to split the alternator to install this extension. I thought it was a bolt on deal?

Maybe it'll work. I believe my problem was with the insulator ring on my alternator. I either had to cut it off or remove it, which meant splitting it apart.

If I have time to dig in that box I'll pull it out with the stock 119 unit
and we can have a look at some photos.

I should quit posting when I am really tired and my eyes are fuzzy.
Where did I get 119 instead of 110?

Wasn't sure about that either. I just chocked it up as a miss print.
