Has anyone used a complete bed kit from Midwest early ford? I am trying to find any known problems etc..
I am Planning on ordering one soon, as long as I don't get any negative feedback on it.
Thanks,
Phillip
I used one for my '51. I paid the extra for all the stainless goodies. Only have a few very minor comments. All probably apply to wherever you get the bed. The wood required more sanding at first than I expected to get all the saw marks out and some of the mounting holes needed adjustment. Some minor adjusting of the fender holes. (Probably my old fenders) Overall I was very happy with it and think it came out nice.
rats! I lied. I got my bed from Northern Classic Trucks in Sterling Heights Michigan. They wont ship to Canada either. How far are you from the boarder John? Might be worth the trip to save the shipping. By the way, I'm working in Port Elgin, ON for a while.
We have plenty of vendors up here abe but all the parts are shipped up here from the U.S. I was lucky enough to find one at a reasonable price considering the value of our dollar and the shipping is only going to be a couple hundred bucks rather than a couple thousand from Midfifty. This is going to save me a pile of work, I'm just bummed they didn't have any fenders in stock and won't for a couple months..
I have one on my 53. All holes were where they were supposed to be. I had no saw marks on the oak, but i did spend a little time sanding. I also have the roll pan.
My understanding is all the bed parts you buy are made by a company called Mack-Hils in Moberly Missouri.
I went directly to them and they are great. The lady that handles bed stuff is named Joy and she is awesome. She can email a PDF copy of the catalog to you if you ask.
Check them out.
The Mack-Products page seems to be down but here are the contacts for Joy. jhummel@mackhils.com

Just ordered the bed kit from Midwest, turns out they are traveling to Lakeland Fl. So instead of shipping it, they are bringing it to me on their way through Atlanta. Saved me about $350 in shipping. So far, I am loving their customer service. Lol
