Long story short, a friend from church is a fleet manager at a local Ford/GM dealership. I told him what I want and he's been pulling sheets for a few weeks now. We came to the conclusion last week that I should order my truck. There are a few options that just are not available on the lot rigs. We left it an open decision until a few financial matters get resolved on my end in the next month or so.
So he dropped me an email today saying he put my order in. No obligation; he just wanted to get it into the Borg. So I guess I'll get a call in 2-3 months when it arrives and I can make my decision then. I'll be stoked when it gets here, but I've yet to see the order sheet so I'm not positive he got it right. I'm not in any hurry, so at minimum we can run an order again. I'm an engineer, so this kind of guessing sheeeeet drives me nuts.
I think he ordered a CC SB 4x4 Silver Lariot with the 501A, MAX tow, Sony stereo, bed spray-in liner, FX4, 36 gallon tank and trailer tow mirrors. We'll see...I asked him to change the color to black and swap the MAX tow for the normal tow package and brake controller (for the smaller diff; per all your recommendations). We'll see how that change goes; I'll be happy with either.
Now the wait. I'm not a patient person; so this is worst than Christmas.
Friend or not, church or not, if he orders the wrong thing, it's wrong. Ask for the order sheet and review it.
In all the vehicles I've ordered, I've typically found that the fleet guys are the ones who are happy to go through order code by order code, and ensure it's right. Also helps to download the order guide... go in knowing exactly what you want.
