It's not bad actually. I wanted to keep the tube short and with as few bends as possible. I left the first piece of the 88 N/A intake from the grill back to get some more air flowing thru there. Seems to work fine and doesn't seem to choke itself out
How much boost are you getting? I'm looking at the cam and maybe a wicked wheel with a modded hypermax turbo. I assume it was turbo before, how much of a difference is there?
Stock pump? Those numbers are about on par with other tweaked factory turbo trucks. But I bet the cam increases efficiency and keeps the boost down comparatively.
Stock pump turned up a few flats. It was freshly rebuilt when i bought the truck a lil over a year ago. Ain't broke so I didn't wanna fix it.....yet
Performance...it spools up quite nicely and gets around 4 psi relatively quick and holds it up. I did a quickie wrap job on the U pipe and up pipe, but nothing crazy there.
Just got around to plugging the wastegate tube so I'm just now getting accustomed to those boost numbers. At some point, I'll wire the wastegate shut but I'm lazy and it's cold outside at the moment. Probably give it another flat on the IP
Intake setup....the intake manifold itself is same between N/A and turbo (visible in last photo). There's a stock intake snail available from 93 and 94 models with the IDI (snail is glossy black in my photos)
I only use this truck for hauling firewood around so I didn't really need to dump a ton of cash to get it up to the level I wanted. I had what sounded like a rod knock and had to pull the engine apart so this is what i came out with in the end. Totally unexpected/unscheduled build.
Can you tell me how you mounted the Turbo to the intake??? I have a Garret Turbo system off Powerstroke and would like to convert for my IDI!
What adapter did you use???
Cheer's,
Brock
A powerstroke turbo is a whole other can of worms buddy...I don't know if anyone here has ever adapted one to an IDI. They have a weird unique flange for the oil feed and drain and it's probably a little too much turbo for an IDI.

I'm not sure if there's such a thing as too much turbo for an old IDI. There are some crazy builds out there. Assuming you have head studs, it should hold up but I'm not sure about mounting it
The (7.3) Powestroke turbos have a too big of an exhaust housing for a DB2 idi. It's similar to the non-wastegated turbo kits of old except with extensive modification/customization to get it to work-I've heard on one person actually completing the swap and they were disappointed with the performance gains.
