Truck wont start

I have a 2000 f250, 5.4l triton v8 that cranks like crazy, but won't start.
When I spray a little starter fluid in it it will run until the spray wears off. Brand new battery and full gas tank. it does have check engine light on dash, probably from the o2 sensor as the exhaust has almost completely rusted out.
Also on a side note the cruise control will not engage.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Honestly I'm no mechanic. I have no idea how to check the fuel pressure

yeah, sounds like it's not getting fuel for some reason, that could be a host of things

-fuel pump not working
-fuel filter plugged
-fuel injectors failed [unlikely that all of them failed, unless a bunch of crap plugged them all up at the same time]
-wiring to injectors/pcm has decided not to fire the injectors

Was the truck sitting for some time? Or rather, how was the truck running before this?

And getting the truck scanned to actually read what codes have been set is also really useful.

And you managed to spray enough starter fluid into the intake to be able to get the truck up to speed and engage cruise control? Or is it with the rear wheels off the ground?

Truck was running rough, but would go anywhere. It sat for about 2 months as the battery died and I was working too much to replace it. The cruise not working was just a side note, not trying to say it didn't work today. I am leaning more towards the fuel pump, filter or a sensor problem. My main problem is there is no way of getting it out of the yard to get it anywhere to be looked at. I'm just trying to get it able to be moved so I can get it out of the way, for now. I need to replace the entire exhaust system before I can drive it or sell it off.
