i have a 1986 ford econoline no start. have fuel pressure and spark.
will only start when i spray starter fluid in throttle body then runs fine. but will not restart unless spray starter fluid again in throttle body. hooked up node light injectors are not firing but have voltage at injectors they are not pulsing until engine is started with starter fluid 5.0 fuel injected. problem is very strange wonder if anyone else has run into this problem
Just a guess, but check the shutoff switch near the computer under the pass side- mounted near the side, push it down to reset it. Fuel pressure regulator could have the vaccum hose loose or no pressure from the fuel pumps, or clogged fuel filter....or bad Throttle sensor (connected to the Throttle body- under it actually) What codes are you getting...there is lots of things that could cause this problem.
fuel pressure is45 psi. with injector noide hooked up the injectors are not pulsing. i have not checked the shutoff switch, does that control the computer or fuel pump, injectors
It controls the fuel pumps, without that you won't get any fuel to the injectors, fuel pressure is a bit high, check you filter too, pressure is someplace normally between 35 to 40 psi's.
but still the main problem is whats preventing the injectors from firing until i spray starting fluild in throttle body. could it be a bad ignition module
i will check the fuel shutoff switch monday when i go to work thanks for your help. will the fuel shutoff switch prevent the injectors from firing. they have voltage
Yes, its there to prevent the injectors from getting fuel, it controls the fuel pumps, if you're in a mishap, its designed to cutoff the fuel so you won't burn to death, sometimes it will turn-off the pumps on a bumpy road and sometimes its a electrical problem, blown fuse, bad switch....or a mishap.
i will check the switch monday but i am uncertain abought the switch because the pumps are working i have abought 45psi fuel pressure. and you say the switch controls the pumps and they are working just the injectors are not firing
once i spray stater fluild in the throttle body to first start the van it runs fine. will run all day just once you turn the key off will not restart

the problem with not starting was the throttle position sensor. i unpluged the sensor and it started. replaced sensor and it starts fine now. the tps sensor was preventing the injectors from firing.
Good, I was going to mention that after you check everything else, be sure to reboot the computer if you have any more problems, but before you do, check the codes and see if all is well with a 11 to pass.
