THanks for the reply, I think its the cable, I don't think its the speedo head itself as the needle bob is 10 mph at slow speeds goes to about 5 mph bob around 20 to 25 and back to 10 mph at 30 to 35 and 45 and up the bob is just very faint probably 1 to 2 mph.
Also it didn't do it this year but last winter when it was cold there was a loud grinding hum sound from the speedometer cable which has me thinking cable.
Will just pull it and put a large amount of that speedometer graphite oil I have.
At higher speeds, the cable will not jump, or act erratic. At lower speeds, the gunk build up will cause it to intermittently "stall" causing what you are describing as "bob".
Yep that's why I was thinking of just replacing the cable. I did pull the cluster loose and used a whole tube of graphite oil speedometer lube on the upper cable it did fix most of the problem the bob goes away after 15 mph in warm months it wont do it at all. I am thinking about buying another tube and breaking the lower cable loose under the hood after the cruise control sensor and putting a tube of graphite oil there as well.
Or see if the cable will pull out of the housing where I can clean the cable off and then reinstall with a fresh tube of graphite oil.
