I've got an X4 device being delivered from 5 Star Tuning today. Nothing crazy, just 87 octane economy and 87 daily/tow tunes. The truck is box stock, no mods of any kind on it. Hoping to bump the mileage up a smidge on an upcoming Florida vacation where I'll be pulling a 7x18 enclosed with 3-4 bikes in it.
I'll say that so far the ordering and inquiry experience has been top notch with Chris and Jacob at 5 Star.
Has anyone gone with a similar device and/or tunes and if so what's your experience?
I just installed the same tune on 2016 6.2 had t for 2 weeks now. MPG gain about 1 mpg.. truck feels more responsive especially from a dead start. gears also shift a little better and harder. Will be towing soon my 33 ft Forest River Vibe trailer about 8000 lbs.. Will keep you posted.

I'll try to update here also, but I'm 7 weeks or so until my trip. And I haven't been driving the truck much this winter since I picked up an '03 Cadillac CTS to rack up miles and take salt abuse instead of the truck.

I installed the 87 daily/tow 2 weeks ago as well. Really wakes up the truck, but not as dramatically as the 5* tunes on my old F150 EB. I am doing a test tow this Saturday with the trailer in my sig. I will also report back.
I had the identical 5 star tune on my 2012 f150 5.0 and the change was dramatic. Not so much of a difference in the F250 6.2. My F150 would smoke the tires and if you punched it at 45 to 60 to would jump to 90+ immediately. I think it may be due to the weight of these monsters. I don't expect much just want the truck more responsive and this did it. We all know these will never have the power of a diesel but again I don't need one. I'm only towing maximum 10k with my boat and travel trailer. This is perfect for my needs. Happy so far 2500 miles on it.
Does this tune change shift points?
I cant stand how mine shifts into 2nd at about 3mph then go around a corner and accelerate it downshifts back into 1st blah, blah, blah
I like the way the truck upshifts in tow mode, but the engine braking is too much for daily driving.
It does change the shift points. But this can be kind of bothersome depending on the speed limit of you local roads. For me, most of the roads I drive locally have a speed limit of 45 mph. The tune puts the 5th-6th shift point at 50 mph. So if you are used to driving 5 mph over, the trans tends to shift back and forth right at the 49 to 51 mph point.

Just wanted to report that the tune worked great! Made the run from the DC area to Williamsburg and back mostly on I-95. Locked out 6th gear and used tow/haul. Got 9 mpg calculated. A few times the trans shifted down to 4th but the RPMs rarely exceeded 3k. Ran about 2300 rpm at 65mph in 5th. Overall I am very pleased.

Good to know. Mine is still sitting in the box. That's because I recently had an issue that seemed like a parasitic battery drain. Took truck to dealer and it was diagnosed as a bad battery and replaced for free. That's the subject of another thread altogether.
After reading about Ford denying warranty claims if a tune has been installed I've been hesitant to do it, as I've got until April 2017 or another 18k miles left on warranty.
Did my 1st tow with this sucker and power is strong. MPG are terrible though compared to my 2012 f150 with 5.0 same 5* tune. I would do around 9 to 11 mpg with my f150, I was doing 7 to 7.5 npg with my 6.2. Big diffrence in power and maintainig speeds from F-150 but Geeeze these suckers are thirsty.

This is a common misconception the only way Ford will deny a claim if it is tuned is if the tune is directly responsible. We keep all of our tunes within Ford recommended parameters to keep from damaging the drivetrain. We even have Ford dealers call us for tunes on a regular basis. Dealers will do everything they can to get the warranty work because it is more profit for them. If our customers were getting warranty work denied because of our tune believe me we would hear about it. You do however want to make sure you return it to stock before you take it to the dealership just in case they decide to flash your ECM with updates. That will mess everything up and the truck will not start then. If anyone has anymore questions feel free to call us or send us an email. Thank You for all the Feedback on this thread.

Thanks for the information. I had read about this issue from a retired Ford engineer. He mentioned that information would be stored in the computer that Ford could retrieve and know that tunes had been installed at some point.
I will not, however, blame him for saying that Ford would be denying warranty claims. That's probably a combination of me reading between the lines and getting that information from other online posts.
Thank you again for setting the record straight. I'll be installing my new 5 Star tomorrow now that I'm armed with this information.
