Can't Get Computer Codes
I have a 1999 Ranger 4 cyl, 2wd and have had no problems out of it ever...until last week when the "CHeck Engine" light came on.
I went to AutoZone and they tried to pull the trouble codes, but when they hooked it up to the harness nothing happened. It is supposed to power on the code retriever but it didn't. He tried another machine..same thing.
I then went to Advance Auto parts and the same thing happened.
I drove home and disconnected one battery terminal for 5 minutes and when I started it back up, the "check engine light" was NOT on. It stayed that way for 1 week and now it is back on again. I cannot get it to go out and I cannot get the engine codes...
Any advice would be very much appreciated...I need the codes because I feel like it is a sensor, but who knows.
PS...it has 82000 miles on it.
