Heading to the bone yard in the morning, going to look for a factory clock, factory delay wipers, and anything else I can't live without. How will I be able to tell if the wiper switch I'm looking at is a delay switch? Also, what is the correct, or easiest way to remove the headlite switch **** and wiper ****? I guess the headlite switch has a button on it and you can pull the shaft out, but do I need to bring something special for the wipers switch?
Also, anything I should look out for when removing the clock if I find one? Straight forward I guess, just find the plug and undo it?
And any other heads up I should look out for? Thanks! Wish me luck!
to pull out the *****, you PULL on them hard.. they should pop right off.
wiper delay you say? its very easy.. turn the **** counterclockwise. it should click once or twice, then travel 1/4 freely then stop completley. if you have that travel, you have delay wipers.
if you dont have a clock now, remeber to bring a piece of the wiring, the longer the better. if you need the color coding, let me know.
Yes, take a small jewellers screwdriver that fits in a 1/16" slot.
The spring metal keeper encased in the **** needs to be relaxed by pushing it towrd the seat.
About the headlight switch ****.
Not everybody knows this But,
Most people make the mistake of just pushing the button down and pulling it.
The proper way is to first pull the switch to the headlight on position
THEN depress the button and pull the shaft all the way out
You know you need the black box (Governor) too..correct ?
Well, I did good today. Got some deluxe door trim chrome, woodgrain dash bezel, 3 radio bezels (just in case, never hurts to have extra parts), got some chrome headlight, wiper, radio, and heat/ac *****, aluminum door sil plates, and got the only set of delay wipers in the yard. No clock though. All for $10 'cause my buddy works there! Put in the chrome ***** and delay wipers today. Went for a ride later and I got to try them out, nice!
1987ltdmaster, I have a lead on an already removed clock, so any tips on putting it in would be greatly appreciated.
Again, thanks to the both of you for the info, I had no trouble finding what I was looking for and getting those ***** off.
The wiring is in the harness for the clock, follow the harness that plugs onto the clock in the donor truck to where it plugs into the main harness, If you're putting an 85-86 clock in an 80-84, or vice versa, you'll have to pull the pins out of the plug on the clock end, but, it wil plug in.
Now that I think of it, I'm gonna fix the one in my F250... really need a clock since I yanked the radio... LOL
Evan
I don't want to splice any wires, and I have a feeling the plug is there anyway. Today I took the dash pad off and the radio out to look for the plug. I didn't see it though. Any help finding it would be great because the clock I'm getting is already removed so I can't trace the wires. Any way to tell what year the clock came out of?
BTW, the delay wipers I got came from a bronco, not sure of the year, but 80-86. I don't think it was an 80 or an 86 though, I'd guess 84-85.
Please help me out, I really want to find this plug. Oh, any chance the wires, plug, and all are wrapped in tape? or should it be hanging there? I did find a female type plug with about 4 wires on it with an obviously factory clip holding it to the dash, almost next to the ash tray or heater control, down low. Could this be what I'm looking for? I thought it might be up higher, but maybe not? Also there is this funny thing on the side of the heater controls, looks like wire connector rubber boots without the wires, what's with that? Thanks.
