I have one computer, this one, that often waits until I am nearly finished writing something, like a post, then it hangs. It only hangs when writing something, never any other time, like reading, or listening to things, or watching movies...
I have another one, to the left of this one, that waits until I am ready to use it, then it kills its sound ability. When I am not using it, it makes noises, as soon as I get near it, it shuts up.
Then, I have another one, to the right of this one, that is a venerable old full tower.. all of two years made. I have all the memory slots full on all of them, with LAN cards in each, so they can plot together, and really annoy me. Across the room, there is another computer, it sits there, attached to printers and scanners, and doesn't do much. It behaves it's self.
Behind me, sitting by itself on a strong table, is a very large color laser, with duplex printing attachements, and collating bin.. Very nice, can print a full color picture 17" by 11". It usually behaves itself, but the paper doesn't like humidity, so it gets soggy, and jams the poor printer, which then insists on being taken to bits to find the darned paper...
Also lurking in the office, is a scanner, copier, fax printer thing. It is fine, other than when I am sitting quietly reading something, it will decide to squeak at me, and start printing a progress report. Many times it has scared the living daylights out of me. Ah, almost forgot... hiding under a pile of old sermons is an older laser printer - it doesn't do much nowadays, it is semi retired but just potters around with notepad documents every so often. There are a couple of lap tops roaming around somewhere too, but they come and go; apparently at will.
Then of course, there is the combo TV VCR sitting next to my desk, on another sturdy table, and the shredder, lurking, waiting for innocent fingers.........
Another trap to watch out for is the laminater... It waits until the unwary approach, then burns them viciously..
We will not go into the anti social behavior of the electric stapler, or the guillotine, that is too painful a memory.
The only truly benevolent critter in here is my track ball mouse. Never once has it tried to bite me, maim me or otherwise show its evil side. The keyboard often decides to wipe out masses of written stuff, simply because it is not idiot proof.....
I may take a photo of the back of my desk, to demonstrate the mass of wires that wait in tangled mayhem, to grab the unsuspecting and haul them under the desk, to digest... I have no clue how many people got lost under there...
