I just purchased this excursion on Friday, and the place that I bought it said it had a procomp 6" lift. That being said, it has procomp shocks. I would like to change the shocks to the Rancho 9000xl's if possible.
Issue: Per the website, they only make the Rancho's for up to a 4" lift on the excursion. I emailed Rancho and asked if those would work for the 6" lift as well, and was told that the shocks were only recommended for the 4" lift.
Question: Is it possible to use shocks for an f250? If so, would I need to look at the shocks for a f250 with a 4" lift or 6" lift? They actually have both for the 250.
how come you want to switch them? im not sure if the rears would match but they just might work. have you checked ebay i think ive seen them there. also if the procomps arent bad i may like to take them off your hands.

I am trying to soften up the ride a bit for the long road trips. My wife says that it rides like there is no suspension under there at all.
I know the rear of our excursions use cross pins for the shock mount to the truck and the f250's do not. However, I found that you can purchase the cross pins with a bushing from skyjacker that should work in the rancho shocks.
However, at this point, I am not sure what lift this truck has. The dealer said 6" procomp, but looking through all of the previous owners paperwork last night, I found where he put a Fabtek 3.5" lift on the truck. The shocks do not have stickers on them, and have a white housing. Fabtek uses white housing shocks as well as procomp. If the last owner put a f250 Fabtek lift on the truck, would that be an excursion 5.5" lift?
Is there any way to tell what is under the truck now?
Look closely at the base near , there may the mfg name and part number.
measure it fully extended length from eye center to eye center
Then collapse it and measure from eye to eye
Even without the name or part number with the extended and collapsed length you can pick a shock from any mfg as they all have dimensions available.

I will look tonight for any mfg. info. If none found, this weekend, I will take one off and take the measurements.

Correct more or less Pro-Comp springs have there code #s printed on top of the spring pack. Seems to hold up fairly well so should be easy to tell Fabtek should have some kind of ID on them just can't tell you what it is
To verify exactly how much lift your rig has now read this thread and take your hub center to wheel well lip measurements then compare what you have to the handful of stock rig measurements listed in the thread. Might as well add your data to the thread too. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...easurents.html
Betts Spring company is based in Fresno CA and they are the actual manufacture of the leaf spring. ( fabtech would have bought them from Betts )
We have used them in our desert race trucks in the past and they provided us a quality product.
A lot has changed in the steel industry over the last couple of decades so I can't speak for the quality of steel they use now days but back when good quality spring steel was available on the USA they were a good company to work with. Now days India is producing much of the spring steel and much of the spring business has gone to Mexico or India. Almost certain even Ford builds springs in Mexico.
I wouldn't say that. My wife is just not fond of the back end getting a little squirrelly when we go over a pothole or bump in the road. It rides a lot firmer than my old excursion with no lift. I will be looking at getting adjustable shocks in the near future.
