2014 F-150 - Hi Folks, new to the Forum and searching for help. What else is new huh..LOL..
Here's the issue: The battery drops to 50% charge or less after sitting for 4 days if the Radio is not turned off prior to turning off the ignition. It will last 10 days if it's turned off.
My dealer swears everything is fine but the second time I took it in I told them to change the battery even if their tests show it's good. I have a commercial grade charger that was showing the original battery as sulfated and the de-sulfating process failed to recover it. Long story short, they agreed and replaced it.
That didn't fix the problem and it still exists today. I have to put the charger on it when I'm not planning to use it or the battery will drop below 50% and the subsequent frequent deep charging will eventually destroy the battery.
I've seen this problem on several forums but all the answers seem to go astray. I did find one answer that made sense which was to replace the BCM/Fuel Pump monitor in the side panel. I also have a problem with throttle response when the engine is cold but being cold may not be the cause if there is something amiss in the module.
Its not throwing any codes and the dealer seems stumped so if anyone knows the solution I'd really appreciate it if you would share it.

Welcome to the forum, Line Stretcher. It might be time to try a second opinion at a different Ford Dealership. Find some local options by entering your ZIP code here: Ford Dealers | Locate a Ford Dealer Near You | Ford.com How many miles are on your truck?
Thanks Crystal, I have a couple of dealers I can opt for. I only have 6700 miles on it.
Thanks for the fast reply, Line Stretcher. If you'd like, I can escalate this to your regional customer service manager (CSM). To get started, PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and the dealership you'd like to work with. I'll do the rest.
I'd love to PM you but forum restrictions are keeping me from doing that until a have 5 posts.
I want to stay with my current Dealership, Hansel Ford of Santa Rosa, CA. It's only fair that they be given every opportunity to resolve this issue. You could PM me with an email address, (I can receive PM's) and I can send you the info you requested.
Whenever it gets cold I have this issue as well. Every time Ford tells me that everything looks just great. Frustrating.
Temps don't seem to make a difference with mine. I just put my Shumacher digital Charger on it and it was showing 48% charge this morning. I started it and took it for a drive and there were noticeable hesitation's in throttle response. That cleared up after about 5 minutes of driving. I put it back on the charger and showed 55% charge. The battery voltage at 48% was 12.2v which is about right for a good battery. I'm doing a 3 stage (flood, charge, float) on it now and then I'll take it for another drive to see if the hesitation is still there. I've never had it do that before but I also cannot verify that it's related.
yep my '14 has this problem; even with a new battery they gave me, never thought to look here.
I have a dashcam that is basically on 24/7 but it doesn't draw a whole lotta power but I guess any draw will kill the battery. Never saw this problem until I let the truck sit for a week and then the battery was completely dead, jump started it and then I got the warning every time I'd shut off the truck
The dealer said the battery was dead (uh yeah... then howcome I could drive it to the dealer without any help jump starting it?) they replaced it but I also had other issues like loss of power steering while repositioning a 3,000lb travel trailer in my driveway.
I still have this problem but hey I am trading up!

I think you're supposed to wait for the engine to warm up; let the rpm drop down to 800rpm or so at idle, when you first start it up its at 2,000rpm but even then I don't usually notice hesitation; fuel filter?
FYI, I'm charging the battery using the negative to body ground point method. I've been able to verify that the low battery warning is coming on when my charger shows the battery at 50% charge. This pretty much say's that the charger is o.k. and that the battery monitor is doing what it's supposed to and when it's supposed to.
I'm charging the battery now. When it's done it will be cold again and I'll see if the throttle hesitation is still there. If it's not then I'll let it sit until it drops below 50% charge and check for the hesitation again. If it returns, I think I know what it is but don't want to lead anyone astray with nothing more than speculation. I will take it to the dealer at that point and we'll see what happens.
Ill update this post with information as soon as I have more solid info.

Hi Line Stretcher,
I don't have the ability to reach out to dealerships directly, but once you have one more post, you'll be able to send me a PM with your details. If you'd prefer, you can contact my colleagues at the Customer Relationship Center (1-800-392-3673); they have the same ability to assist that I do.
Here's the 5th post but I still have to wait for a few more days.
FYI - Battery charge state this morning before starting was 12.3v and 65% charged. That's after a full charge and a short drive yesterday afternoon.
Charging these batteries at anything below 85% results in a full charge cycle. The typical battery can withstand about 180 charge cycles in a lifetime. It's easy to see why the factory battery failed prematurely.
Just dropped it off at Hansel Ford of Santa Rosa, Ca. The reason I'm reluctant to take it elsewhere is because I like my service rep and Hansel Ford. They have always bent over backwards making sure I'm well taken care of.
They did find a Service Note (not a TSB) regarding the battery drain issue on 2013/2014 F150's. Hopefully this will shorten the trouble shooting. I told them to keep it until they are positive that it's fixed.
