Unknown engine miss
The truck has 111260 miles on it.
It has no kick when gas pedal is put on floor. Only 1000 rpms from a dead stop to full acceleration* Engine slowly works it's way to full speed. When pulling out from a stop sign at normal throttle the truck does fine. When you come to dead stop on a hill and accelerate, the truck is sluggish even noticeable roughness in cab till you level out and then truck runs fine. The truck cruises at 65 mph no problem

Ron, Its kinda hard to figure out what your truck is doing. It sounds like it is not starting in low gear so it can't get the engine RPMs up at a start. Perhaps you have a shifting problem. Can you pull the shift lever to 1st gear at a stop and see if it takes off any better from a stop? Patrick

The truck is not mine yet. I was told it might have a dead cylinder part of the time. The truck pulls out from a stop just fine on level ground. When you push accelerator to the floor it does not do what we used to call, "kick it in passing gear." The owner told me compression test n all cylinders showed 125lbs.

Thanks for commenting. Let me brief you on what's been done to truck. New plugs, wires, new distributor new push rods, new lifters. New head gaskets. No valve job was done when head gaskets were replaced. No pvc valve attached to breather. Fine vapor of smoke coming out of pvc hole opening in valve cover after engine heats up.

It could be many, many things. If you get the truck, you would then have to start the systematic checking of all the possibilities.
To me, it sounds like a ignition / timing / carburetor problem.

I've got another problem also. Turned hard right making a u turn and it died. Owner says when making a hard right turn engine dies. It does restart back after putting in neutral

Thank you for your advice. The man just called and said he changed his and didn't want to sell. Reverse went out on transmission last night. I'll keep looking.

There might be a chance
The transmission had water in it and now it locked in drive. I know it has to be rebuilt. Is it possible the transmission problem cause the engine to stall when making a u turn?
