Headers Or Not

I'm trying to get a little more power out of my 351 clev.I was going to install headersBUT I was told with a bigger exhust system I would gain that low end pulling power I am looking for.If I install headers also is that going to help me that much more. I forgot to say that this is a 77 f250 with a newly rebuilt engin I pull a 22 ft 5th wheel.

Headers Or Not

A bigger exhaust will usually improve high rpm pulling power. Headers will always help an engine. IMO a Cleveland is NOT what you want for towing. A 460 or even a 400 would be better, they both have low end pulling power which the Cleveland ain't got.

You have another thread here that you posted to a month ago that probably has some info also:

Depends on the headers you go with. Usually, headers will increase both torque and hp. If you also go with a 2.25" or 2.50" dual free flow exhaust like flowmaster...then you will like the improvement.

Good luck with it...

Equal length headers will help build some low end torque by scavanging exhaust from the other cylinders and will also make more higher rpm horsepower because they breath better than manifolds.
