What would you do?
My 1979 F-150 gas tank is ready to be replaced. I junked all of the emmissions stuff years ago, and do not need the tank with the hole in the top anymore.
Should I get the tank with the hole in the top and plug it, or should I just get a tank without the hole in the top?
The filler tube vent pipe is on the side towards the front of the truck, if that makes a difference.
Anybody have any expierience or thoughts on plastic tanks as opposed to metal tanks???
Is that all that the small hole on top is, a vent?
We do have our share of hot days in the summer here, so if I were to get a tank with the vent, should I hook up the line attached that goes all the way to the passenger side frame rail in the engine compartment. OR could I just make a smaller line that I could just vent out under the bed somewhere???
I'm in the process of putting in a new tank now (same kind of tank) 79 F-100 300 Inline Six Three Speed. Truck sat for 5 years, replaced carb, new tank. It was interesting to find out the vent valve was also called a roll over valve (never hearing this before) If the truck was to roll over the ball check inside would shut off the gas supply to the motor. You might already know this but I found it of entrest. This is a nice board I think I'll be comming back.
