2003 ranger wont start

Well if its back firing through the throttle body, you have spark, but it sounds like timing is off, so use your inductive timing light on cyl #1, passenger side front, to have a look at spark timing when the engine is cranked.
Having to use a starting fluid suggests you also have a fuel delivery problem, so check KOEO fuel pressure at the fuel rail Schrader valve test port & post up the Number. It should be 64 +/- 8psi.
Use your ELM, or other scantool to look for set, or pending trouble code clues & post up All code Numbers.
EDIT: When you changed the plugs, did you check for compression??? When replacing the plugs, did you also replace the plug wires & if so, are you certain you got them routed properly, snapped on the plugs securely, routed as the factory had them & plugged into the coil pack correctly????
