Hi All when my engine is warmed up and driving normally my voltage is 13.7 to 13.9.
When I first start and charging kicks in it at 14.1 to 14.2
Is this too low as I am starting to see signs of a possible ficm failure code p0261. clear code and it comes right back No cel.
Batteries are two months old.
Your battery voltages look good. But if you are concerned about the FICM, check those voltages as well. During startup, warmup & normal operating temps. You can do it with a scanner or a multimeter.
That is because when you first start your pcm is requiring more voltage to charge your batteries from the glow plug draw, after a while it drops when the batteries are near full. Don't be alarmed unless your seeing low 13s
It also depends on where you are testing for voltage, at the alternator post, odb port, or at the batteries, due to resistance.
At the alternator I'd expect to see about 14.4 after start up.
Even so, Your numbers suggest that the alternator and batteries are just fine.
Buffalo,
Don't you just like your Dashboss?
Here's the way I set mine up. Interesting to see how others use the parameters.
My alternator voltage shows a bit lower, but when the 5th wheel is hooked up, I have two 102lb Data safe batteries hooked up in parellel with the stock alternator. Needing to upgrade is on my list.
Buffalo,
Don't you just like your Dashboss?......…
I like it! I just got it this week. It took me a few months to decide on what to get. This is a great way to be able to monitor the PID's I wanted to along with EGT's and Fuel Pressure without breaking the bank.
I'de love hear your experience with what you see while towing. Planning on taking the 5th wheel on a big trip when the snow melts......I'll be in touch 😎
P.S. Is that you fuel mileage! I'm not getting 1/2 that 😎😎
No, that number's a bit deceptive when off of the throttle. I get 19 on the road, 17 in town, 15 when towing my 8k boat, and 11 when towing my 15,5k 5th wheel.
I usually will put that metric back to mph so when recording all metrics, the rpm plus the mph help to fill in the Big picture.
I also have the analog metrics set differently. I'll have to pass them on too.
If you notice, I align similar metric top to bottom. That's because when reviewing the recorded graphs, it's easy to compare similar info without changing pages.
Interesting Josh. Why the fan speed metric? Is there something in particular that you look at there?
IIRC correctly I believe that screenshot is from the Summer of 2013 when I was watching Fan RPM related to A/C operation.
Although I didn't switch PIDs too much. The Trans Temp, Fan Speed and mass fuel are the parameters I would change around as I saw fit. The others stayed as they were 100% of the time
