FE 360 not staying running
Theres so much rust in the tank that i will be replacing it along with the hoses, and i need to do it anyway.
I've ordered
Qty. Part # Description Unit Price Amount
43-3347 FUEL TANK FILLER HSE-REAR $39.95 $39.95
In Stock Update Part QuantityRemove Part
43-4030 SENDING UNIT $59.95
$59.95

* 43-5049 GAS TANK-38 GAL-REAR MOUN $199.95 $199.95
i still need to source an inline filter for the rail. The previous owner removed it
The fuel pump still pumps a nice squirt of fuel, and once the parts come in i will tear into the tank.
I hear ya, buts just one of those things, and my truck has 3 total tanks, and two are disconnected. At least with 38 gallons it may level the truck out.
Today i adjusted the float by lowering the level a bit because i suspected it wa flooding. 2 quick adjustments to the front and rear and she stayed idle and i drove her about 2 miles.
When i came back i shut her off and i needed to give her a pump of the pedal and she started right up. Im will adjust the float up a little, because it maybe slightly too low.
Received my replacement 38 Gallon tank, Sending Unit, and hoses, and i will tackle it sometime this weekend
Question Should the float level be the same on both front and rear of the Carb.. Holley 600
Make sure both pressure, and volume, is correct or it will never run right. Ever. Float level is critical. Download the manual and instructions (free) off of Mike's Carburetor page, Holley themselves, or half a dozen others.
What is your manifold vacuum, you have a gauge? Super useful tool.
It sounds from your video a little like the timing is retarded quite a bit and/or the carb idle mixture is off.

I don't have any of the guages, but what do you reccomend so i can keep an eye on it.. I plan to do a engine swap in the distant future, and i want to make sure im not wasting items that i cannot reuse.
Once i adjusted the float today, she idled nicely and the exhaust did not smell as rich as before.
They will indicate the overall health of the engine without any disassembly and are useful for tuning the engine and carburetor. They won't fix your motor but they will tell you what's wrong, from exhaust restriction, weak valve springs, worn piston rings, misadjusted ignition timing, out of whack carburetor adjustments. They also double as a mechanical fuel pump pressure tester.
