Make sure the one you get is for the correct engine family. C-6 transmissions don't have interchangeable bell housings.

I think you are on the right track. A '78-'79 F-series C-6 should suit your needs. They will have the correct shift and downshift arms as well as the bosses for the NSS.

As long as it's a 351M you should be good to go.
When you swap in the 460 be sure to check the diameter of the snout (pilot) on the torque converter. 351M-400 and 460 typically have different size snouts.
