I was given a Lund truck visor for my 78 and I jst saw a few sold for $500 seemingly due to it being discontinued. If this somewhat true? Is it really worth a bit of money?
Only worth as much as someone that needs one will pay you....Might be a worth $25 might be worth $200? As far as $500, I doubt that, but if that is the case I have some other hard to locate Ford truck parts to sale to the guy that paid $500 for one. lol
mine had a lighted one when i bought it 2 yrs ago,the first hour i owned the truck i took that Lund visor off and cut into a bunch of pieces and into the dumpster it went. DAM THAT FELT GOOD.

I feel the same way now, I bought mine as a package deal with a few other parts, can't bring myself to drill holes in my roof after dealing with drip rail rust. I'd probably give it away if someone near me wanted it.
I kinda like the looks of them and they are a period correct bolt on accessory. There is NO WAY I could make myself drill the holes to mount one on my truck. LOL
I have always liked the lighted ones. It's all personal preference I guess.
I've always liked the looks of the lighted ones as well. Mine is lit and I also have cab lights. I've replaced all the visor and cab lights with clear lenses and LED bulbs. I love the look of it.
But I can attest first hand to the fact that if installed incorrectly, they WILL cause rust.
I was young and didn't know any better when I put this visor on. Had I installed it with rubber washers and a bit of silicone this may not have happened. I'll repair this rust before my truck gets repainted. And then I will reinstall the visor (this time with as much waterproofing and rust preventative measures as I can take). They look great IMO. But you do run the risk of rust down the road.
