Exclamation 93 Lightning motor ?

Newb question:

I recently picked up a 5.8 roller motor out of a 95 F150 to tear down and rebuild. I *might've* found a '93 Lightning parts truck — but I know nothing about them. Would it behoove me to grab the intake and/or heads from the '93 to use on the '95? Or anything else (other than complete engine)?

What all is different in the Lightning motors vs. stock 351s?

Thanks.

The unique parts on a Gen1 lightning motor are the GT40 heads and intake and the flat tappet marine grind camshaft and the first 2 in that list are the only parts worth obtaining, a standard '95 truck motor has a factory roller cam so you don't want to go backwords to a flat tappet.

thanks... so assume i'd want upper and lower intake then?

also assume it has that 1 goofy torx bolt down the middle... does anyone know what size that is for sure? (i had to borrow a set when i pulled the '95 and now i don't recall).

we'll see if there is even a motor left in this truck.

The 6 bolts holding down the upper intake to the lower are standard hex head bolts that can be removed with a standard socket. There is a Lightning cover that goes over the two center bolts and it has 4 screws that are of a torx head type...not sure what size because I replace mine with phillips head screws. Get the plumbing that goes to the throttle body as well as the air box if you don't plan on making custom pieces with an aftermarket filter. It would be a good idea to grab anything that attaches to the intakes, EGR spacer and throttle, just for good measure.
