My truck was found in a barn living with chickens, in Cheney Washington. It had been there since the mid seventies. From what I gather it is a one owner truck. It has/had the flat six engine. Unfortunately, the owner past on while in the middle of removing the head for some valve repair and water was left on top of the rear piston, rusting the cylinder beyond any chance of a rebore (possibly a sleeve?). I recently moved to a new place with a large shop and garage so it's full steam ahead getting this project going. I'm starting at the front and working back, repairing and replacing anything that moves....and some that doesn't. Currently, I have the front axel assembly out and rebuilt and am preparing to tackle the steering box. My plan is to keep everything original where possible, except for the running gear. I'm undecided as to what I'll end up with there. Fortunately, the truck is in very good condition so I can concentrate most of my efforts on R&R and not looking for body parts. I'm trying to locate and install as much of the factory optional equipment as I can scrounge up. Recently, I found a pair of sun visors and a rear view mirror and mount and would like to find another external mirror assembly for use on the right side and the factory ashtray assembly (I like my cigars). A friend gave me the proper Fulton Sun Shield for a nice Christmas gift, that I'll most likely be adding on also. Love working on this thing and really looking forward to getting her back up and running. During research I've done, I referred to you fine folks here for much of it. There's a wealth of knowledge here that I'm glad to be a part of. Thanks for having me!
Either the earlier 41-47 G series flathead six or the later 48-51 H series flathead six will bolt right into your truck. These motors are around at surprisingly affordable prices. I wouldn't write off the original drive train due to a scrap cylinder block.
