Yup, just joined the dead alternator club. Lost all charging capability, everything went dead on my way home in snow on Saturday. Most likely going to replace my failed stock alternator with a 185 or 270 depending on price. Where can one find a supplier that has them in stock at a good price
Ed at FICM repair.... I didn't buy mine from him but when my DC 320 amp gave me issues and DC did not have a BLUE 270 to replace it with. Well let's just say that ED offered to send me a replacement from his stock so I wouldn't need to wait. No one does this, although I did not take him up on his offer and waited on DC for my replacement. If I ever need a FICM or an alternator I will buy it from him, his customer service is awesome! Even if your not his customer lol
I struggled with alternators last year...went through I think 5 Autozone alternators in just a couple of months. Finally got one that lasted half a year and I ended up having to change starter, and both batteries as well to fix the issue. I just started noticing charging issues 2 weeks ago so I decided it was time to really fix it. Just picked up a 270amp from FICM Repair and it is waiting for me to pick up at UPS tomorrow. The price of any decent alternator is up there but FICM Repair seemed to be just slightly cheaper than most. If you want feedback on the parts when they come in, I will let you know what I find...but from what I have seen from those guys so far, I wouldn't hesitate to point someone else in their direction.
Don't expect a response from Twitch to soon, UPS wouldn't go down his drive today so he didn't get the alternator and UPS doesn't open up for pickup until 4:30PM tomorrow. I think we all know how bad that wait feels too

I have plenty of work to keep me busy until they open.
Twitch, you will be happy with the 270 it really holds at over 14 all the time.
At idle I can run all my lights, both ac's and just about all else and see between 14.1 -14.4...
Just a couple weeks ago I jumped started an f150 and when he cranked his truck it sounded like his starter was on steriods!
Making the time is the issue, with the weather not cooperating and work.......
I dont have much in the way of accessories, factory stereo, boat trailer doesnt draw much, instead of the 270 I could just use the 185. Just getting back to a running EX is priority
