truck ordering question
On the quote there are 3 fees I have a question about. Fuel charge-$73.15, ADV Assessment $797.00 and destination $1195. What is ADV assessment? I live 3 hours from Louisville. Why can't I drive there and pick it up and eliminate this like the Corvettes. I can prep the truck myself. The say everything is negotiable. Do you know what the chances of eliminating or reducing these fees are? What good is a $2500 rebate if they just make it up in useless fees.
Fuel fee is what Ford charges for fuel in the truck, ADV = Advertising, You get to pay for all the great commercials Ford has, and the destination is how much Ford charges to get the truck to the dealer (Same amount regardless of where you live). Some states allow dealerships to market the truck price without these fees, making them seem significantly less than a neighboring state that does not, however you will be paying for them on the bottom line. Everyone has to pay them one way or another though, as it's part of the price Ford charges the dealership. If you "negotiate" on them then you are really just negotiating off the price of the truck.
fuel charge is just that.....the cost of a tank of fuel...make sure dealer fills truck before you drive away....lot or ordered truck
Adv is advertisement fee charged all buys....again.....lot or ordered truck
Destination is the charge to deliver the truck from the Kentucky Truck Plant (KTP) to your dealer....again...lot or ordered truck...
Prep is what the dealer charges to clean and do any services the truck requires on arrival from KTP. Also, sometimes it is part of the Document fee the dealer charges. The fee can range from $99 to $500 or more.
Go to Ford and build your truck....read about the options and add them....then go to NADA and price the truck. NADA will give you an "invoice" price that should be close to what the dealer will want. The NADA price does not include any incentives or rebates.
Also request a brochure or two from Ford. They sometimes send out private cash offers that can be used in conjunction with any incentives. Some of the original 6.0 owners got $2500 private cash offers.
And yes, best to order what you want. The usual dealer stock does NOT include many options. If you order with the 6.7, add the auxiliary heat, upfitter switches, etc.
