Grizzly's build
So I had it aligned over the weekend but I noticed it still seems to pull to the left. With my tires still being worn as they are, I imagine they could still cause it to pull even if it was correctly aligned?
I have a set of new tires that are supposed to be going on today so if its still pulling after that I'll take it back to the shop.
Also I noticed right after I got the truck back from my mechanic that the air will sometimes go to defrost like it had a vacuum leak but then it will go back to the vents after a minute or so. This tread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...e-defrost.html seems to cover it.. It didn't do this before the shop replaced my intake manifold so I'll check around the firewall first I guess.
LT285/75/16 BFG KO2s on American racing ar172 baja 16x8.
Somehow I didn't get a picture of it sitting on its own. It rides much better now and turns easier too. I'd have to say I can't hear any noise from these. The first time I took my foot off the throttle I looked down at the RPM to make sure it hadn't died, I'd gotten used to the old loud tires. And so far it doesn't seem to be pulling to the left anymore either.
If anyone's interested, the rockstars are for sale.
My build log is over on Expedition Forums:

Also as a side note, it's not a Ford but I was very excited and wanted to share.
I got the trans in last night. I managed to get it to fire up this morning before work after it's been sitting in my driveway for about a year. I was surprised the battery had enough juice. I'll be picking up trans fluid and adjusting the clutch today and hopefully driving tomorrow!
The tow mirrors I ordered from 1AAuto arrived today and I wasted no time putting them on. I ordered power w/o turn lights.
I rolled the windows down and removed the trim pieces.
These were the only two screws to remove on mine.
Disconnected the plugs and set the panel aside.
I pulled the liner half way down the door just to the top of the speaker. Enough to unplug this connection and to be able to get my hand in this hole to be able to fish the plug from the new mirrors through.
Three nuts hold on the mirror, they're 7/16.
The new mirrors came with new nuts but the washers were smaller than the old ones so I reused the old ones.
The wires are a couple inches too short to reach. You could force it if you wanted to but it would put a lot of stress on the cables.
The correct way would probably be to splice in more wire but I leave my tools at work and I wanted this done tonight so I just disconnected the female end from the door and left them floating.
Closing everything back up and do the other side and you end up with this.
The angle of these really bothered me, so it's time to mod them.
Pop the cover off.
I found this to be the easiest way to get them off.
I loosened up the bottoms just enough to let the top sag and then removed both of the top screws. I had a handful of 1/4 washers so I grabbed those.
Spacers for the top. I found three to be just right for the passenger side.
Before
After
Now after spacing these I found that I needed to grind some of the molding on the cap to fit now that the top sticks out a bit further now.
There's a lip on the inside that I ground down flush with a grinder. Not the cleanest but it's hidden once reattached.
I think the driver's side would be a bit more level with four washers. I would imagine that both doors would be symmetrical but the passenger side looks level when viewing from the driver's seat but the driver still seems to stick up just a bit. But I ran out of washers so...
Here we are.
My thoughts so far on one trip to the gas station is that these are way better to see out of. Down sides are that the plastics on the are mount and base don't seem to be a high quality. Poor fitting and loose, even before I popped the cover. The mirror glass also shakes a bit but nothing too bad.
The mirrors also came with two of theses cables and I don't know what they're for. The mirrors came with no instructions. The big end looks like the end that plugs into the female end of the power mirror harness but the mirrors don't have a plug for that other end. Anyone have an idea?
Do the mirrors you just installed telescope extend outward?

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I've been wondering if something is wrong with my truck since I've read threads of people saying they've had no problems towing. My 285/75/16s are just shy of a 33" tire and that's only an inch or so bigger than the stock fx4 size. Am I getting less power out of my 5.4 than others or do I just have different expectations since I came from an F-250 (but that had the same engine with 3.73s) ?
