i installed and ran both compustar and autopage. liked them both. 2 ways with mile ranges. good stuff. i switched to the autopage for the OLED display on the fob with the reporting of vehicles interior tempertures. itll even start it up by temperature, or time. but most the time i just hit the start button so i dont have it randomly running.
The reason I chose the one I did was because of the iPhone app. I can lock and unlock it, plus get the temp. and the voltage readings in addition to the remote start through the phone. I'll never carry the fob.

thats just a addon module for most of them anyhow.

Really... well damn, had I realized that I might have chosen differently. I think it'll be just fine though, as long as it works I don't see how the Viper could be any different unless you think I should have them swap it out. They haven't finished the install yet, the only thing that they were able to get done was the remote start. I have to go back next week for another 2 hours for them to finish up the door locks and everything.
I don't believe my wife has ever used the remote start on her car and I've used it maybe 5 times. I'll stand in for Brent this time and say it might be a want, but sure isn't a NEED. (I'll grant a waiver to our arctic friends) How did the primitives live back before all these fancy gadgets? Harumph garumph.....

funny you say that, in the 70s i remeber running out for my mother to start the car, pump the gas 70 montecarlo, heck we never had 4x4 tell my dad got a 78 f150.... and after it would start we had a broom stick cut off we would wedge between seat and gas pedal. kids were the remote start back then.
Let me know how you like it Apoc, I'll be in the market for one soon enough.
Just gotta find one with a delay for the glow plugs, now that it's getting cold (for here), I'm actually waiting for the plug cycle before cranking over.
Funny story about putting one on my old '94 XJ that didn't require the clutch to be pressed in. Ex-wife thought it'd be a sweet thing to fire it up before I woke up for work so it'd be nice and warm. Unfortunately, it fired right up and idled straight into and through the garage door. I had left it in double 4-Lo as I had pulled the neighbor's car out of the ditch the night prior. 4.56's and an 11.7:1 crawl made for some serious low end twist.

Had A Viper one way and Python 2 ways (DEI's) on 4 of the vehicles and they all crapped out from 5-10 years. The sirens all failed, the keyfobs broke every couple years and went through batteries every month or two. Since Circuit City installed them all didn't have warranty so they were all yanked out and replaced with 2 way Compustar systems. The range is improved and the battery life is also a huge improvement.
Had the old ones removed and the new ones installed for $275 each from a buddy of mine. It took him about an hour and 15 minutes per install. The one he did in my driveway last Winter 25 degrees at midnight, lol!
The ones installed from Circuit City ran about $550 each.
