Well, I found a local muffler guy that will cut and weld in place of where the kitty and muff are (no emissions in Eastern Washington). I will be saving the kitty for "just in case" later down the road for emissions. Appointment made for Thursday.
I figure for $100 cash I cant really beat that, and I don't have the time to do the work myself anyways with so many house and church projects going on, plus this snow wont stop.
I see your saving your cat, which is wise. But when the Cat has the internal honeycomb knocked out to a open can basically then reinstalling it on a straight pipe system Does stop the drone !!
It smooths out the exhaust note a bunch.

Just make sure what ever this person does to your exhaust, your cat will bolt back in when you need to. I have had to put my cat back in every 2 years for testing.

Well, at this point he is just cutting it, and I figured if I needed again I could just get it re-welded permanently next time if emissions happen here where i am at.
If you would, PM your town, I am interested to know where it southern Wa they are having emissions testing, unless its southwestern Wa, then I could understand that.
Clark County. Every test day, the guy bends down and looks under the truck. The rest of the test is the famous throttle snap test. Looking for smoke. I reset my program to stock for the test.
I have since moved out of Clark, but I keep the Cat incase I decide to sell the truck some day.
