I am having trouble with my f150 and a buddy suggested I try this forum. I had posted in another and nobody had anything to add. Appreciate the any help.
The biggest issue is "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power/Electronic Throttle Control” warning randomly pops up and truck shifts crazy, vibrates and will barely go.
- Yesterday the tone of the door open chime and the backup warning suddenly changed, it was more a high pitch chirp than the normal tone. That’s not normal for that noise to suddenly change.
- The AC plug on the dash doesn’t work. I had heard some loud clicks coming from the Power Inverter box in the back of the cab before. Sounded like a electrical switch turning on and off (opening/closing). The light next to the switch is flashing three times which according to the manual means the power outlet is over loading according to the manual. This has been like that since I got the truck but I never thought to mention it and had not tried to use the plug.
I have 9,700 miles on the truck and I am really worried this is just a bad egg with some gremlins that may never be fixed in warranty. This would have cost me a fortune out of warranty.
My dealer has been excellent up to now but I hope I can find someone out there with some info that may help them.
It does sound almost like a bad ground somewhere. If it's fixed then I wouldn't think there are gremlins stuck in there yet. Did you get a full repair order? What did they say they did to fix the problem? IMO, if you can look at that and the problems are reasonable to understand and had full reasonable repairs, then I wouldn't think twice about it. If the same thing happens again (if it does, it would likely been in the same timeframe) then there is probable a deeper problem, but again, once that is found you should be good. They are full of parts, but not much more complex in many ways. Just more wires and computers to chase, but an overall sound design. I'd be interested in reading what they determined the problem to be.

It has happened four times now. It happened pretty quick after repair try. It has been in twice to repair this issue. I will see if I can get them to send me the paperwork. When I have gotten it back I have picked up after service closed or they have brought to me without paper work.
Dealer called today and they are starting a case file with Ford. They are stumped.
Work with your dealer. If they have a case open with Ford, it will get resolved.
You should have the service adviser leave the paperwork in the trunk when you do
an after hours pick-up.
This is a great forum, and the folks here can give you good advise, but they can't fix
the truck for you. Get it to the dealer again.
I just reread and picked up on the overloaded circuit. So the dealership hasn't looked into that? I'd have them check that out first. Not sure what all is supposed to be on that circuit.
A case open with Ford helps tremendously! I had to do that for my Focus that kept having front end noise. After the case was open they figured it out and haven't had any more issues.
Keep us updated.
