What's unfortunate is to see, over time, how historical figures are expunged from the record. Older history books included Gen. Lee as a "Great American", and schoolchildren were taught as such. He was truly a remarkable man. Very sad that demagogues tear down with nothing to offer. I would wager that Dr. King would agree wholeheartedly.

We all have our heroes, General Lee is one of those men and will not be forgotten like so many other of our brothers and sisters have been forgotten, expunged from the record as if they never existed, rewriting the history books to reflect what they think happened instead of what really happened..
