A few months ago I had to replace my fuel level sensor due to the fuel gauge not working. I had been receiving codes for incorrect fuel level for a few days, so I bit the bullet and changed it. It seemed to work fine, until last weekend.
It seems as though the gauge has a mind of it's own. You can cycle the key and the level will change from time to time and it's not smooth sometimes. I did also have a problem where the gauge would not return to E when the key was shut off.
Also, my keyless entry has been hit and miss. The fobs both have new batteries and sometimes it will work from a long distance, and other times I cannot get it to work even inside the truck.
I also get strange issues, while not very often where the HVAC controls will not come on, and I have to restart the truck to get them to come on.
Another thing is the vacuum pump. It works, I've tested it, but it sometimes refuses to turn on unless I unplug and replug it.
I found a slightly burned ground wire in the plug of the driver side head light. I noticed it one day as I was walking in front of the truck at night, and the driver headlight was much dimmer than the passenger. I have replaced the plug and the headlight works properly now, but why would the ground wire attempt to melt?
A poor ground equals increased resistance which will create heat. You should verify all of your ground cables and run an extra from the block to the frame for insurance. Ground gremlins can create havoc in your electronics.
