Trade F150 on a Excursion?

Hey guys long time owner of a 06 F350 diesel and have really been looking at a 05 Excursion. The prices on these in Texas are crazy high. But been looking at 04-05 models thinking of trading my wifes 2014 F150 on it. what do you guys think?

I would hope you come up with some money out of the deal. Your link doesn't work. Nice diesel one seem to go for near 15K to 20K.

Well that sucks just found that one and was going to go look at it tomorrow. Other than normal 6.0 issues is there anything else to look out for?

That's a tough one, If the F-150 isn't providing enough seating or something? Reason it's up on the chopping block? I own both and I don't think I could choose one over the other.

The F150 is great but I also currently have a 06 F350 that is solid. It has 240k miles on it and runs great. Ive done most of the updates before it was a issue. I also have the F150 which is a great truck but would like to get a 3rd row seat. So in looking the Excursion would tow the RV and have the 3rd row.

Is the V10 any good. Ive seen several with 200k miles on it. I just think a properly maintained 6.0 would hold up better. I dont know

Gotcha, I love all the tech and soft ride the F-150 gives me.

The V10 is great! damn near rock solid in the reliability department other then minor things like exhaust studs and the occasional stories of blowing a spark plug. All of these relatively cheap and easy to repair in comparison to anything related to a diesel.

I have no EXperience with the 6.0 BUT in 2000 I bought a new EXtended cab SD 7.3. I put 80,000 miles on it. I now have (3) 2000 Xs, all V-10s, 98K,175K. & 198K. The 198K has 4.30s on 37" tires. I pull a 12,000 LB 20' trailer @ 70-75 MPH all day long with it. It's bone stock I prefer the V-10 over the 7.3 anytime.

The V10 is a solid platform with every little issues, what not to like

Go for the 7.3 rock solid engine. Great mpg towing and unloaded. I do like the v10 but one of our work trucks (f550 crew cab 12ft bed 4x4 v10) lacks in the power department hauling our dump trailer. My f250 7.3 pulls it fine.

Only serious and consistent issue with the V10 is fuel mileage. These things absolutely suck down gasoline unless you drive like you've got an egg under your foot, and even then, 15 mpg is pretty incredible.

Something else at work there, I get 30%+ better mileage than that towing an 11k lb TT with my V-10 EX with 4.88 gears and almost 19k lbs combined.

Factory 5.13 gears, commercial mud terrain tires on 19.5" rims heavy duty all 1/4" steel flat bed with steel sides, 5000 lb capacity 7x4 steel lift gate, 1/4" steel toolboxes down the side, steel square tubing full length ladder rack with platform starting at front bumper and ending at the rear of the cab. Onan onboard commercial 5000 watt generator. It's a big heavy beast that gets 7 mpg doing 70.
